Vintage Party

A couple of weeks ago me ad a couple of girls from uni had to organise a fashion shoot. We were very lucky and got the chance to run around Fyvie Castle. The finished photos look great and we're really pleased with them all. Thank you to everyone that helped us out

Party Time!

Every year around the party season Topshop bring out a collection of party dresses. This year Topshop have definitely out done themselves. Theses are a couple of my favorites that I might consider for My Boxing day family festivities this year.

Dip Dye

Dip dye hair sprung up this summer and since then its been everywhere! I personally think its the best thing ever, depending on how its done sometimes it can be done quite dodgy. Two celebrities that have been heading up the dip dye trend this year are Drew Barrymore and Nikki Minaj

I was so fascinated by dip dye that this summer I tried it out myself and the results weren't to bad for me being armed with hair bleach and dye. Maybe hair dressing is my calling

Big, Brunette and Beautiful

As part of my coursework I have had to write an article for a Fashion magazine. For my article I chose to write about something close to me heart and that was curvier, healthier looking women in fashion. I'm not the slimmest of people and I've accepted that however it still irritates me that there are still dangerously thin models parading around in magazines and on the runway. I wish that more people in the fashion industry would realise that for many women it is not healthy to be that thin. Something I've noticed has well while researching has been that sizes in fashion go from one extreme to another, models are either size zero or plus size e.g. size 14 and up. Whats so wrong with sizes 10 and 12? It seems like it would be a happy medium and widen the spectrum but sized 10 and 12 models are virtually  unheard of. I'm 5,10' and a size 14, my size is in proportion to my height if I was much thinner I would look ill. I eat right and walk from one side of Aberdeen to the other most days so this is clearly the shape I'm meant to be, I'm curvy and I'm proud.
Cheeky picture of me posing in a changing room to show you my shape

Halloween

I sat and reminisced today about Halloween while looking through pictures. I love Halloween purely for the dress up, I don't really mind about the whole spirits part of it. I love dressing up. Its the one time a year that you get to look ridiculous and no one bats an eye. This year I dressed up as a leopard which I thought wouldn't be that common, I was wrong. Everywhere I looked there was another leopard.

I wanted to buy a dress that I could wear again and with this little number from Topshop I can and I have. I sat the night before and crimped all of my hair as well which took a life time!
This year the night that everyone goes out for Halloween was also Emma from me last posts birthday. Her costume was hands down fantastic. She went as the Statue of Liberty and made her costume all by herself. It was amazing!

Although the best costume of the night had to go to the guy that dressed up as an angry bird.

Emma

Shirt - H&M
Jumper - Vintage
Shorts - Made herself
Shoes - Vans

This is my friend Emma. I met her for coffee yesterday and a trip to the gym, although we spent more time drinking coffee than we did at the gym. Emma studies fashion at Grays, which is only a hop skip and away from the business school. Emmas style is quite similar to mine, so much so that we both ended bringing the same top to wear to the gym. I love her style and I often ask to borrow some of her clothes.

 Dress - Topshop
Cardigan - Topshop

Dress - Topshop
Shoes - New Look
Flower - Accesorize

I found out this week that I have to chance to go to London Fashion week in February with my course. I'm soo excited! Some of my flat mates (how are on the same course) and I have already started planing what we're going to do.

Also yesterday while Emma and I were wasting more time before we finally had to go to the gym we went for a quick look in Green 64 which is a tattoo parlor. My parents gave me money to get a tattoo for my birthday which was back in June but I've been putting it off and off until yesterday. The plan was to just go in for a chat   and I ended up coming out with an appointment for Wednesday the 23rd, Thats a week today!  So this time next week I'll have my first tattoo. Its really exciting but I'm not looking forward to the pain.

Florence Welch

Ok so I don't actually know her but I thought I should add a little post about my icon, plus I'm trying to avoid writing an Advertising report.

Florence Welch is my icon. I love her music and her style. Shes dyslexic and has managed to achieve so much in her career already. At 25 she has had 2 top five albums, been a muse for Gucci, preformed on the Channel runway, won 15 different awards in total. I'm also dyslexic and seeing everything that she has done motivates me to struggle on, Is she can do it why can't I? Her style is so different from anyone else in mainstream music and she is a great lover of vintage, possibly a leader in the rebirth of vintage fashion. A lot of my style is inspired by Florence, I want to be her really.

I got her new album "Ceremonials" as soon as it came out and I haven't been able to stop listening to it. My favorite song has to be "No Light, No Light" The song give me goosebumps whenever I listen to it and her voice is incredible. I watched her preform the song on "Late with Jools Holland" and It was amazing, the fact that the performance was live astonishes me. Shes just incredible at what she does. Hopefully one day I'll get to meet her  and confesses my love to her in person.

Claire - My Weekend in Glasgow

Skirt - French Connection
Jeans - American Eagle
Shoes - New Look

This is Claire, she goes to Glasgow uni so I don't get to see her that much. However i does mean that when I get the chance to run away from Aberdeen and have a cheeky wee trip to Glasgow I get to go SHOPPING!
This trip was no exception, for the first time I went vintage shopping. I love vintage clothes and vintage inspired clothes but I've never been to actual vintage shops for my clothes I've always just stolen them from different members of my family. Claire took my around all the vintage shops in the West end of Glasgow and I managed to find some great things like This fur coat. It only cost me 35 pounds which I thought was great! its make out of sheep skin and its so warm as well.

We went for a vintage break at a restaurant on Byers Road called "Cup" Where we had some Afternoon tea. Possibly the best idea of the whole trip. Just look at all the cakes!
Bottom Layer - sandwiches
Middle Layer - scones with jam and clotted cream
Top Layer - cupcakes, fruit loaf, mini lemon curd pies and blueberry mouse cups

I managed to sneak in some high street shopping as well but I didn't buy anything interesting only some clothes for work.
I love Glasgow and I'm so sad I'm not there anymore but I had to Aberdeen and start my mountain of coursework which I may have not started yet. I've got a fun week a head.

So this is my sister Emma, shes 13 and runs around like she owns the world. A while back because my family went to Paris for a couple of days Emma told me that I have no fashion sense and that she dresses better than I do, considering I'm studying fashion I found this hard to believe. That is when I set a challenge. A Fashion Off! Every day we were away we had to dress well and get pictures taken as proof. You may be wondering why there are no pictures of me  from this fashion off, well its because she was right. She does dress better then me but I'm also really unphotogenic so most pictures we took I was pulling an odd face something I get from our mum. Here are some more pictures of Emma from the fashion off.

Trousers- Tesco

Emma spends the majority of her money on clothes. Its unreal how many clothes she likes to hang on her floor. She loves Playsuits and whenever I go home she seems to have acquired 3 more.

To finish off here is a picture of my brother, Mum, Emma and I beside the Eiffel Tower. Its a prime example of the faces my mum pulls.
